The So-called Democracy in Iraq
Over the last six years, there has been an ongoing heated debate concerning the controversial issue of whether Saddam Hussein's execution brought democracy to Iraq or not. It is an undeniable fact that Hussein was the fifth president of Republic of Iraq and he controlled the country with absolute and unlimited power over the twenty-four year period. Furthermore, Saddam Hussein was the component of threat for America and his neighbours; therefore, in 2003, American troops entered the Republic of Iraq and Hussein was deposed so as to establish democracy. After he was arrested, he was sentenced to death and executed within few days in 2006. In spite of Saddam Hussein's execution, Iraq is not a democratic country due to not being an independent country, ruling by Islamic law and all citizens not being equal before the law.
