The Process of Speaking English

                        In today's world, significance given to speaking a new language has proliferated dramatically. People need to know at least a foreign language because knowing a new language affects every aspect of people's  professional and social lives. It is an undeniable fact that English is the most dominant language all over the world; thus, in recent years, English is on the school curriculum from the primary school in Turkey. Nonetheless, teaching English in the schools bases on theoretical knowledge and, unfortunately, this circumstance is not enough to speak fluently. There are three crucial steps to speak English such as improving vocabulary and grammar, improving pronunciation and making more speaking practices.

                        The first step of speaking English bases on knowledge of grammar and vocabulary since these are basic rules of learning a new language. Firstly, everyone would know the fundamental grammatical order which is subject, verb and object. Then people should attend an English language course to learn three fundamental tenses which are past, present and future correctly as these tenses are more useful ones to people's daily conversations. Secondly, people should have  knowledge of  vocabulary sufficiently to speak English; hence, firstly people should learn basic level verbs, nouns and adjectives such as come, go, school, home, and beautiful. Then they should learn irregular verbs to talk about past and to use passive voice. After that people start to learn word formation yet generally a long vocabulary list is given to people and then they memorise all of the words on the list. Moreover, learning a English vocabulary is a long process so people learn new words every minutes.  

                        Secondly, pronunciation of words has crucial influence on speaking English because writing and pronunciation of words are so different in English; hence, English words' mispronunciation and this circumstance can lead to misunderstanding during conversation. Therefore, people should follow some basic ways so as to improve their pronunciation such as enhancing the familiarity with word , and learning phonetic alphabet. Firstly, enhancing familiarity with the English word by listening English  music news or conversations on radio stations, watching movies and reading book loudly. At the beginning, it may not mean nothing for elementary level students; however, when their English level progresses from elementary to advance  they are getting familiar to the words and even grammatical structures. Secondly, people should learn phonetic alphabet to decrease their pronunciation mistakes. When they look at a word in a dictionary, they should learn the word pronunciation.

                     Lastly, after learning grammar, enhancing vocabulary level and improving pronunciation of words, people should do more practice to talking fluency. Firstly, they can join a conversation club or attend a speaking class a English language course. After the course, they should speak English to each other. Nevertheless, the best way to making speaking practice get a native speaker friend.

                        All in all, learning a new language is a long term process and most difficult and complicated issue in people education lives because it is like a bottomless pit. Therefore, people should maintain speaking English so as to improve speaking level and speak more fluently.
