My
First Day At The University
Everyone has at least an
unforgettable day or moment in his/her lives. The first day at university was
the most unforgettable day in my life due to the fact that studying archaeology
and history of art at Bilkent University was my biggest dream. However,
unfortunately, my first day at university started excellent, but ended badly
due to some circumstances.
I could not sleep until
morning on account of excitement. I always looked my student cardand smiled because I was still not able to
believe whenever I enrolled the university or not. Hence, I went out early to
spend time before my roommates woke up
because I could not wait any more.
Preparatory school was
on the east campus. Therefore, I went to
the east campus from main campus and walked towards the C building as I saw
lists on the window of the building. I checked my name and classroom on the
list. When I arrived at my classroom, there were almost fifteen students there
and all of us came from different cities. Thus, we did not know each other, and
so I was getting more nervous every minute until one of the my roommates came
in.
After a short period of
time, two teachers, who were our teachers in the first course, came to
classroom; moreover, their name was Martine and Firdevs. Martine was the main
teacher. When I heard it, I was so disappointed because we did not know
English, also she did not speak Turkish. I thought, it was impossible how to
pass the class? Then our head of teaching unite gave short and explicit speech
about we can pass the courses. To cite an example, we had to study at least
five hours after class and she always emphasised that if we do not study hard, we will dismiss from university. She repeated the verb several
times; therefore, ''dismiss'' was the first word that I learned on the first
day at university.
I am always going to
remember that day because of the fact that my biggest dream turned to nightmare
in a day.
